Owls in talks to sign Lualua

Owls in talks to sign Lualua

Wednesday boss Gary Megson has confirmed the club is in talks with former Newcastle United and Portsmouth forward Lomana Lualua.

Lualua is a free agent after leaving Cypriot club Omonia and Wednesday, who want to bolster their attacking threat, are keen on his signature.

The 30-year-old attended the Owls' 3-2 victory over Scunthorpe United in League One at Hillsborough on Saturday and discussions between the player and the club are on-going.

'We're just having talks with him to see if we can come to an agreement. That's as far as it's gone,' Megson told the Sheffield Star.

'Milan [Mandaric] knows him from his time at Portsmouth. We're seeing if we can agree something that suits both parties but that hasn't happened yet.'

Wednesday missed out on signing Adam Le Fondre, with the Rotherham United hitman opting for a move to Championship club Reading, and Megson is keen to add more firepower to his squad.

Lualua started his career in England with Colchester United before Newcastle snapped him up. He went on to play for Pompey before having spells in Greece with Olympiakos, Qatar and Cyprus.

This signing would be the difference between us staying in league one or getting promotion. So if it comes off i recon it's better than landing ALF. Who we can sign as a Championship team next season when ALF realises his mistake at joining a small club now.

I think he wouldnt be a good signing and judging by his stats of the last for years pushes more further to my feelings. 2007–2008 Olympiacos 21 (5) 2008–2009 Al-Arabi 11 (2) 2009–2010 Olympiacos 17 (4)

If any of the talk is to be believed then i think Matt Tubbs would be a good signing and as a good scoring record.40 goals in 45 appearances last season for Crawley. And he also want to leave Crawley if a big club come in for him.

How do youncome to that conclusion Kettering? Hrs not had a glistening past few years better players about than him I'm sure. Again a free, don't get this whole scimping on buying a decent player, I understand we've got limits and we don't want to be over the odds but that's the state of football. But if he does pull on the blue and White I'll back him but can't see anything other than a flop!
