No Owls deal expected for Lualua

Wednesday are expected to call off the chase to sign former Newcastle United and Portsmouth forward Lomana Lualua, according to reports.

Owls boss Gary Megson had revealed that the club was in discussions with the striker, who is without a club, over the possibility of him joining Wednesday.

But according to BBC Radio Sheffield, Megson doesn't expect a deal to go through.

Lualua had attended Hillsborough on Saturday, sitting in the stands to see the Owls beat Scunthorpe United 3-2 in npower League One.

But with transfer activity hotting up around the country on transfer deadline day, any deal for Lualua at S6 now looks dead, for the time being at least.

No new rumours of incoming players have been doing the rounds, but there could still be one or two surprises before tonight's 11pm deadline.

Owls fans could also see some players moving away from S6, with midfielder Giles Coke being linked with a move to League One rivals Rochdale.

I think players like Coke and Beavers should go out on Loan we are well stocked with central midfield and defensive players at least till January and we may need them match ready... Meggo's first choices are clear and I think both players may figure in the clubs future so why not get them more game time, especially being that we are running out of competitions for them to have run-outs in. Haha olly love it!!! I think personally coke is 3rd choice mid, behind jose n prutton. Be daft to let him go, unless we have a 24 hour recall clause
