Morrison aims to get in the goals

Wednesday striker Clinton Morrison has promised to get on the goal trail this season after admitting he 'wasn't doing the business' last term.

The former Crystal Palace and Birmingham hitman scored Wednesday's leveller in a 1-1 draw at Charlton Athletic on Monday night minutes after coming off the bench.

He could get his chance in the first team for the next few matches should new signing Ryan Lowe be sidelined through injury alongside fellow new addition Chris O'Grady and Jermaine Johnson.

And he's promised to grab that chance with both hands as he looks to rejuvinate his career at S6.

'I know when I play, when I'm fit, I can score goals,' he told the Sheffield Star.

'I just want to be given a chance. First and foremost, last season I was nowhere near up to scratch. I didn't have a pre-season at all. I wasn't doing the business and didn't deserve to play. I accept that.'

Morrison was the star addition to Wednesday's squad in the summer of 2010 but failed to live up to expectations - as the whole squad did - last season.

But he's off the mark with two goals so far this season and will be looking for more - starting with this weekend's home clash against MK Dons.

anyone know if Koumas has got a club yet? Would be a good addition, and I for 1 think we still need another midfielder, especially if playing 5 in midfield.

What’s newsworthy about this interview?? So he finally bags a one that would’ve been harder to miss. And?? The real question is should Megson still be manager of this great football club having made absolutely no progress on the pitch in the 30+ games he’s been in charge. If any of my fellow Wednesdayites think yes, they’re in denial. And it’s not a river in Africa!

Very impressed with Gary Speed's Wales t'other night. They were unclucky. Yet another Manager who unlike clueless Megson understands that the modern game has changed since his beloved kick n rush 80's. You CAN take a bunch of average players (most of the Welsh team don't play in the Premiership) and within a dozen games (not 30!!) instill belief and tactics based on passing, possession football. Good to watch and as all clubs who've been promoted in recent years prove ---- very effective. How can anybody be surprised that the likes of ALF and others just don't want to come and play for a manager who'd rather send players out on 10 mile runs than practice with a ball at their feet. We're gonna get stuffed by the blunts and it makes me sick because it could all have been avoided.
