Boro' Keeper Joins Wednesday

Owls boss Paul Sturrock has finally secured the services of a goalkeeper by bringing Middlesbrough stopper Brad Jones to Hillsborough on a three-month loan deal.

Jones will go straight into the squad to face Preston in Wednesday's opening game of the Championship season - despite only have one day to work with his team mates.

The 24-year-old has made 15 appearances for Gareth Southgate's men after coming through the ranks at the Riverside. He made nine appearances last season and featured in Boro's road to the UEFA Cup final.

Sturrock has been looking for a goalkeeper since former number one David Lucas rejected a new contract towards the end of last season. There was no pot of gold at the end of the Scott Carson rainbow and a number of names have been mentioned with the number one jersey at Hillsborough.

The signing of the Aussie has been no secret though, with the 24-year-old being tipped to secure a deal with the club for the past few weeks.

As well as first team experience with Middlesbrough in the Premiership and UEFA Cup, Jones has enjoyed loan spells with Stockport County, Rotherham United and Blackpool.
