Morrison back after MK Dons loan deal

Wednesday boss Gary Megson will welcome Clinton Morrison back to his squad after the striker completes his one-month loan stint at MK Dons.

The former Crystal Palace and Coventry City man has enjoyed a productive spell with the Dons, netting three goals in four starts for the Owls' npower League One rivals and will return to S6 after the weekend.

Megson has said the Dons will have to flash the cash in order to get the hitman on a permanent deal.

In the meantime, Morrison will be part of Wednesday's plans after Megson revealed there had been no fall-out between the pair. He'll replace David McGoldrick, who returned to Nottingham Forest following his loan spell at S6.

It's unlikely that he'll take the place of either Gary Madine or Chris O'Grady in the Owls' attack, while a return to full fitness for Ryan Lowe will mean Morrison will be fourth-choice striker.

But with Madine carrying four bookings, another would rule him out for a game and give Morrison the chance to get himself involved in first-team affairs.

To be honest we have not missed him or his big mouth. So he can stay there for all i care.

The worry is that in training he just upsets the apple cart with him being "the Billy Big Time Charlie" with his moods P@SS@@G others off and creating that unwelcome atmosphere. Lets hope not but I think we need rid of him asap.
andymac-scoresagoal
I wonder how much of this is meggo actually wanting him and how much it is the club trying to get some money for him.
trustout
Whilst he's in the mighty blue and white stripes, he gets my support 100%. To be honest, I didn't think he was playing too bad this season. Ok, not too many goals but with confidence and a winning team ethos he'd be bangin 'em in like the "Goal Machine!! Madine". He's got a gob on him but so what? Surely he's good at winding up opposition along with the odd wednesdayite. Give him a chance I say, he's still a natural goal scorer that could come on with 20 mins to terrorise and wind up the defence. WTID UTO

It's a dilemma but I think we're entitled to expect a fee. He's still only 32 and a former full international, he's also proved himself capable of performing at this level... for MK! Thing is, we want him off the payroll so they think they can take liberties. I hope we dig our heels in on this one and tell them to go get stuffed. Put up or shut up, and the same applies to lovable Clinton. Is he any good at painting & decorating?
OurMaurice
is there any foundation to the above comments of him causing trouble and unrest? I've talked to people who work down there and not heard anything like that. We have improved as a team in the last month or so, he probably won't get many chances to play but I'm sure he'll still keep plugging away. I hope he does get on the pitch and scores some goals now we are doing better. He has rescued a few points for MK Dons, better him here than there

I'm not his greatest fan because he hasn't delivered. Not sure how much truth there is in him being disruptive even though he has a big mouth. Biggest point here is that we can't loan him out to a team just behind us in the table and let him bang in goals for them so that they can finish above us. It's better to have him back with us as 4th choice.

If you think about it he's probably the highest earner at the minute, Irvine or else someone at board level managed to persuade him to drop a league and I can only imagine it was for cash. So there could be the potential for disruption bearing in mind our current wage structure is such a relevant issue. Also there was allegedly that business on the coach after the Stevenage game. Rumour perhaps, but you can't fault team spirit since then. I'd expect GM to treat Clinton in a professional manner but I can't imagine him getting back into the side either to be honest. I think he'll be on his way sooner or later but we aren't running a flaming charity here!
OurMaurice
I mean, loaning him out to one of our main rivals and carry on paying a sizable chunk of his wages seems like madness, I don't even like the idea of them having Beevers. If it's good business though, that's different. Beevers might return in better shape. Not sure about Clinton. Then again, I never have been.
OurMaurice
I'm just saying that if (and that's a big IF with our current strike partnership and Lowe) he's in the team, I will SUPPORT him 100% and wont jump on his back before he's even touched the ball. I think it would be great for him to finish his time at Wednesday on a higher note and repay the fans (like I guess he really wants to). He's a decent strikers as proven in the past yet his form has dipped whilst at S6. So lets get behind him and encourage and you never know he may score goals like at MK D's. Come on Clinton, prove your doubters wrong and give GM a selection nightmare!!!! WTID UTO

I'm a agreeing seemingly as always with OurMaurice yet again but I see what you are saying Owlsmad... think everyone here though gives 100% support to the players that pull the blue and white stripes over their heads and go on to the field of play for the Wednesday. He has had chance upon chance to prove himself and in pre-season he looked like a new player... unfortunately as soon as the games counted he reverted to type. If we can sell him and get him of the books then to me that is what we must do... the priority has to be keeping Marshall and at this rate finding someone of his quality to play the other wing in Jan. I think everywhere else we are set he now represents a luxury we really can't afford. WAWAW UTO

There is one simple reason why we need to keep him and not let him sign permanently for one of our rivals. The quantity of goals he has scored against us. I think only Kevin Philips has scored more. If we can keep Marshall and Batth then add Roberts in January things will be good.
