Reda suspended for Carlisle United trip

Wednesday will be without defender Reda Johnson for Tuesday night's npower League One trip to Carlisle United through suspension.

The Benin international picked up a booking in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Colchester United at Hillsborough, his fifth of the season, meaning he'll miss the trip to Cumbria.

The former Plymouth Argyle man enjoyed one of his better games in the blue and white stripes against the U's, and even got on the scoresheet to double Wednesday's lead with a goal in front of the Kop.

It means Julian Bennett is likely to step in to replace him at left-back. The former Nottingham Forest man has failed to cement a place in defence since his switch from the City Ground in the summer and will be keen to use his chance to impress Owls boss Gary Megson.

It's a shame but it's also another huge opportunity for Bennett to stake a claim. This is what healthy competition for places is all about.

For all his efforts I'd be disappointed if he was our first choice left back. He's big, gets stuck and has done a job for us there but got beaten for pace down the wing on Saturday. I'd be keen to see Bennett get a run and see what he can offer.

Ridiculous booking for me. He slipped when going to tackle the guy. Rob Jones took a Colchester player out knee high in the 1st half,a terrible tackle and didnt even get booked. Shocking refereeing.

thought he was one of the better players saturday but gives bennett that chance to impress dont think he's been that bad and scored a couple more than capable replacement

He's not banned. He's got 4 league booking and 1 cup booking (same as Madine) therefore he is not banned.
