Scouts have eyes on Hillsborough

Scouts have eyes on Hillsborough

Wednesday boss Gary Megson has revealed that scouts from 'bigger clubs' have been descending on Hillsborough this season.

It's a normal occurance, especially with Premier League clubs who have a big scouting network, but putting two and two together would suggest some are looking at the continued top-form of top-scorer Gary Madine.

Madine travels to former club Carlisle United tonight as the leading scoring in not just npower League One, but the whole of the Football League with eleven goals to his name.

Newcastle United's name has been mentioned alongside Madine's thanks to his excellent start to the season, but that's just rumour.

'We know what clubs are coming and how often,' Megson told the Sheffield Star.

He continued: 'There are a lot of scouts coming here from bigger clubs. I've been in that position myself; we used to send people over to watch Mark Beevers and Tommy Spurr [when he was at Bolton Wanderers].'

Madine's start is expected to catch the eye of clubs in a higher position than Wednesday, but the Owls are in a position where they don't have to sell one of, if not the, prized asset currently at S6.

It's one of those - promotion or lose Madine. First option is the only option I believe.
