Madine to miss Owls' trip to Wycombe

Madine to miss Owls' trip to Wycombe

Wednesday's top scorer Gary Madine will miss Saturday's npower League One trip to Wycombe Wanderers through suspension.

Madine was set to receive a ban anyway when he collected his first booking at former club Carlisle United last night, taking his tally for the season to five.

But the red card he went on to receive with ten minutes to go, thanks to a second booking, will mean the striker will sit out one game, at Wycombe this weekend, and his previous four yellow cards will still be in tact when he returns to action.

It means the joint top scorer in the Football League will be walking a tightrope over the next few matches.

Ryan Lowe is expected to step-in to replace Madine this weekend, alongside Chris O'Grady in the Owls attack.

It might do him some good to miss a few games to show him that just because he is our in form striker, he still needs to respect the ref and stop getting these silly pointless bookings. Sayin that, if he is the catalyst for the team, which we will see on Saturday, then ignore that last statement!!!! haha. He is a young lad so hopefully he has time to mature and blosom into an excellent servent to SWFC. WTID UTO

Can't fault him for his goals tally but the guy has an attitude problem. Just seen the sending off on TV and it looked like he aimed a head butt at the ref. Apparantly he had similar problems at Carlisle so they decided to get rid. Hope Lowe comes up to expectations and makes Madine sit on the bench for a few matches.

I wonder if Old Clint made the journey north to Carlisle? There are no grounds for making wild accusations here but it's odd isn't it? He's been back five minutes and bang goes our unbeaten record! I'd be tempted to leave him back at Hillsborough on Saturday, just to be on the safe side. I dunno, maybe find a few light chores for him to do that might involve an old apron and a feather duster. Y' know, nothing too strenuous or likely to cause any serious injury.

Our Mo, i'm like you, i don't think it's just a coincidence that the last game he was involved in was the Stevenage game, we've won every game bar the pig game since then, first game he's back at the club and we lose it, i say show him the door Gary he's jinxed.

We cannot rely on one player to score goals - this forces the issue. TBH I'd prefer to lose Madine than Marshall - he gives us what we have been so badly lacking, someone who can put balls in the box.
