Madine charged with improper conduct

Wednesday striker Gary Madine has been charged with improper conduct by the FA following his sending-off in Tuesday night's 3-2 loss at Carlisle United, where he got sent off.

Madine, a former Carlisle player who is League One's joint top scorer, seemed to react angrily to the referee's decision to send him off for a second bookable offence late in the game at Brunton Park.

He has until 6pm tomorrow, Friday, to respond to the charges.

The 21-year-old is already suspended for one game, scheduled to be Saturday's trip to Wycombe Wanderers, but he could face a further suspension if he's found guilty, a fine, or both.

Had a touch of the deja vus there for a minute. Thankfully he kept his hands (and his forehead) to himself, otherwise he'd most likely be looking at a holiday in Italy followed by a whirlwind romance with a bunch of West Ham fans!

It's the custom these days to blow everything out of all proportion. I happen to think Madine was a shade unfortunate. Getting booked for dissent is silly but not unheard of. There was no contact made for the second yellow and he showed his frustration. The ref is obviously a graduate from The Allcock School of Dramatic Arts or else he wouldn't be making such a big deal of it. Let's hope common sense prevails (but I'm not holding my breath).

I hate berating refs because without them we haven't got a game but the quality of refereeing in the football is often shocking. By all accounts Jones got booked early on for his first tackle but their centre backs were kicking the preverbial out of Madine all evening. It's no wonder he got frustrated, people forget he's still only 21 and is still maturing, Rooney's older and more mature and still does stupid things out of frustration so hopefully this is a good lesson for him to make him a better player.
