Madine suspended for Brentford clash

Wednesday striker Gary Madine will sit out Saturday's game with Brentford through suspension.

League One's joint top-scorer already missed Saturday's game at Wycombe Wanderers due to his sending-off at Carlisle United in the previous game and will now sit-out the visit of the Bees following an FA charge for improper conduct.

Madine confronted referee Paul Tierney following his dismissal at Brunton Park and has been banned for one match and fined £500 over his FA charge.

It means Ryan Lowe, a scorer on Saturday at Wycombe, and Chris O'Grady are set to continue in attack.

Madine will also be on thin ground when he's back and available for action, with four yellow cards to his name this term. A fifth would result in another one-match ban.

I'm sure we will cope. One player does not make a team.

But he s the Goal Machine. Great chance for Lowe to stake another claim though. Looked very sharp at Wycombe last week.

No worries lets just go with the flow and Ryan Lowe , because dont forget he scores goals too

The suspension here and there won't hurt him, give the others a chance to stake their claim, give him a rest as well!

I'm more concerned about what we will do if Marshall goes back at the end of December......

I'm sure if we are still in a good postion come january, Tony Pulis will allow Marshall to stay till the end of the season, because he's not going to jump from this league to premiership that quickly, too big a move for me, even if Stoke had a few injuries, the january window would be open, so i would have thought they would bring someone in with premier experience rather than somebody out of league one, besides Megson and Pulis are good friends, and Marshall is still learning the game.

Given Madine's age and the fact we're only just starting to see glimpses of his true potential, dare I suggest this additional ban has come at a good time. With competition for places stronger than ever I'd hope it won't lessen our chances of 3 pts come Saturday and when he returns? He's picked up too many bookings already, one more means another ban. There are no excuses now for ill-discipline and the fact that referees will be watching him and opponents will be trying to wind him up could and should add focus to his game and make him a better player. I'm sure GM will remind him of his responsibilities too and do everything to ensure he keeps his feet on the ground. All the incentives are in place if he can stay clear of trouble, including a U-21 call up.
