Who Are Yer?: Luton Town

The Owls first home match of the new season sees Mike Newell's Luton Town make the trip up the M1 to Hillsborough. We ask Vital Luton Town Editor Scotty to answer our questions...

--------------------------------------------

1. What are your expectations for this season?

I had hoped we would be play0ff contenders but in view of the big spenders in the CCC I'll be glad to equal last season's 10th place!

2. Who have you signed during the pre-season?

Lewis Emanuel (Bradford C free), Richard Langley (QPR free) and Adam Boyd(Hartlepool £500K)

3. How has your pre-season gone?

Pretty well 4-0, 6-0, 1-2 (Fulham), then 4-0 and 9-0 on Swedish tour, and 1-2 at Barnet.

4. How big a blow is the loss of Kevin Nicholls and Steve Howard?

Not too much of one. I believe we have had the best of their careers and £1m for Howard, who was not as good in CCC as the lower divs and £700K for a player who was out with dodgy knees a lot last year and has done it again at Leeds in his first training session was excellent business and Langley and Boyd will do well for us in those roles.

5. What are your opinions on Mike Newell?

Very astute manager but a little naive tactically last year wanting to win when he should have settled for a draw and attack when winning. This cost us a lot of points last year but I'll bet he has learned from that. Promotes a great dressing room spirit.

6. Who are your danger men?

Steve Robinson makes us tick and Dean Morgan when in the side and buzzing can be awesome, but if he gels quickly Adam Boyd could be a surprise package in this division.

7. What's your most memorable Owls Vs Hatters match?

My first visit to Hillsborough in October 1970. we won 5-1 and Malcolm MacDonald scored a fantastic hat trick and Don Givens got the other two.

8. If you could take one player from the Wednesday team to Kenilworth Road who would it be and why?

Graham Coughlan, he always plays a blinder against us.

9. How do you think Wednesday will do this season?

Better than last year. Your manager is one of the best at this level.

10. What do you think the score will be?

Wednesday 1 Luton 2

Thanks Scotty - good luck for Tuesday and for the rest of the season.
