Owls close in on Tavernier and Llera

Wednesday are close to agreeing loan deals for James Tavernier and Miguel Llera, according to media reports today.

Bradford born Tavernier is a defender currently with Newcastle United who has spent the first few months of this season on loan with Carlisle United. He played against Wednesday when the Cumbrians won 3-2 earlier this season.

Spanish-born Llera is also a defender who signed for Blackpool in the summer but who has been on-loan with Brentford so far this season. He also played for the Bees when they took on Wednesday at Hillsborough in a 0-0 stalemate.

Owls boss Gary Megson is keen to bolster his squad options before the close of the loan transfer window this Thursday, with defenders seemingly high on his wanted list.

The moves could mean Lewis Buxton faces a longer-than-expected spell on the sidelines through injury, although that has yet to be confirmed by the club. Rob Jones also misses this weekend's game against Leyton Orient through suspension.

Neither deal has yet to be agreed, but our sources say they're both all-but-done. Keeping checking Vital Wednesday for all the latest.
