Owls complete Llera loan swoop

Wednesday have signed their second defender on loan in as many days following the capture of Blackpool's Spanish defender Miguel Llera today.

As reported on Vital Wednesday yesterday, the centre-back will follow Newcastle United full-back James Tavernier, who signed on-loan yesterday, to Hillsborough and will stay until January 2012.

The 32-year-old has spent the start of this season on-loan with Brentford after Blackpool signed him in the summer, and he played against the Owls when the Bees held Wednesday to a 0-0 draw earlier this month.

He arrived in England with MK Dons from Spanish side Hercules and went on to play for Charlton Athletic, alongside current Owls midfield man Jose Semedo, before Blackpool snapped him up.

Llera will be eligible to go straight into the squad for this Saturday's home game against Leyton Orient.

undecided on this one - seems the blackpool fans dont really rate the lad. any thoughts my fellow owls?
Carbone's Padawan
How can the Blackpool fans rate him? He hasn't played a game for them yet!!
welshyowl
From my vary hazy memory I think he was solid for Brentford and ok for Blackpool - doesnt mind getting his head on it so should fit in well.
Prendergast
He looked dangerous in the air against us! Actually, I wonder if he might be coming in on Semedo's personal recommendation. Still, I have faith in GM's ability to spot a player. His record with loans has been pretty good so far (not counting Kasnik & Uchechi), McGoldrick looked the part and served a purpose. I'm hoping these two will be more of the same, but I want Marshall and Batth for keeps!
OurMaurice
I would think at 32 he's clearly not one for the future but will provide solid cover (and competition maybe) for Jones.
TheMightyBoosh
reckon we stand a chance of netting Marshall on a permanent?
Carbone's Padawan
lol, let's just say I'm the eternal optimist. Personally, I think we'll have to grease Stoke's palms to get his loan extended. It would also depend on Marshall's present contract situation. Bearing his age in mind and the fact that he hasn't played for Stoke's 1st team yet, I don't think his wages would necessarily be a problem but which division we happen to be playing in might!
OurMaurice
yeah can just see this as being cover he'll prob play saturday with jones suspended ? Dont know why we didnt get beevers back has been playin well for mk
retfordowl1867
I'm with you on that one retfordowl, I'd prefer to think Beevers still has something to offer us but more than that, recalling him may have pulled the rug out from under MK. There's probably a reason why things have worked out this way, we'll just have to wait and see.
OurMaurice
i wonder if we can recall beevers at any point? maybe in february march or something? after january when MK cant replace him, because there not far behind us at all.
wrighty-swfc
Beevers will never be in GMs plans again he does not fit the criteria required. Lets not forget Beevers is a great tackler and blocker but he could never head the ball further than 10 yards. His future lies elswhere.
