Owls boss confirms Uchechi departure

Wednesday boss Gary Megson has confirmed that Nigerian forward Daniel Uchechi, who was on-loan with the club, has left Hillsborough.

Uchechi made just one league appearance for the club since making the loan switch from FC Dender in August and has seen his loan spell, which was due to run until January 2012, cut short.

He played in the Carling Cup contests against Blackpool and Blackburn Rovers, and also the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Bradford City, while making a substitute appearance in the 2-1 loss at Bury in the league.

But he failed to break into Megson's first-team plans and, with three loan players arriving at Wednesday this week, Uchechi has moved on.

Think he served his purpose. Someone to play in the league cup, the JP trophy (at a time when we only had 2 fit strikers) and someone to be the opposition in training. Which is pretty damn important. Additionally JOC is part of a successful TEAM and I'd much rather have him in it than bloody jj.

I wonder if we got rid of JOC today, who would some Wednesday fans pick on next ?

your guess is as good as mine, it irritates me how there always has to be an undeserved whipping boy. i have my issues with jj and have for years but that is because he plays only for himself (and he doesn't even do that well!) but JOC is being selected to do a specific job for the team which he generally achieves and when he has off day he still puts in maximum effort.

Couldn't agree more. It's about the best TEAM - not the best players. Unfortunately that's the mentality in this country: hence England's pathetic record. We're doing great right now and a first teamers getting stick?!? Have a day off.

JOC is total tripe I have tried to come round to him but frankly despite all his hard work he's no good as a footballer. I think he holds our team back big time. Can't fault his work rate but should not be in the club. Not good enough.

Hes a nice bloke though - bumped into him with his kid at a soft play centre in Ecclesfield. Having seen him playing with his kid I find it hard to be tight with him. i don't think he's that bad and think when we move up a division meggo may move him on. hes been a good servant for the club and hasn't been constantly injured like a lot of midfielders over the years. Better get used to him this year cos we'll be seeing a lot of him. if we get decent passing midfielders we still need someone to get stuck in and win the ball like palmer used to for sheridan.

The thing with J'OC for me was he was always one of the major culprits when we played badly under Laws and Irvine. I agree Hirsty some fans are never satisfied but the J'OC issue for me has been one of ongoing crapness. Player watch him next match. The only reason he does so much running is because he is off the pace. He is too slow, too small and just making up the numbers. Yes this is a good team but there is still room for improvement. To say I am not delighted with current form however would be a lie. Also while I am in Devon and not getting to many games I don't mind JOC being in the team if we get the result but when I do make the games my heart does sink when I see him on the team sheet. No problems with the man just think he should be 7th on the list of our midfielders!

Uchechi was brought in as a striker but played out wide so it would have made more sense to bring in a wide man at that time. Good luck to him wherever he ends up!

it's football we all have our opinions and that's why sites like this thrive. i see something different to you (Devon) with JOC. i see someone who is pretty consistent in doing a nuts and bolts type job, when we have played badly it has been because the so called playmakers have failed hit their straps. anyhow the team is working quite well at the moment. don't worry my heart sinks everytime i don't see hirsty's name on the team sheet. its been a miserable last 14 years!

haha love it Hirsty. I think Prutton can do the same job but better however I will leave JOC alone now, I've said my piece. Proud to say I served Hirsty a pint of best when I worked behind the bar at Hillsborough. Best guy I met however was Lee Bullen who referred to me as sir. I saw him again on the last day of the season after we stayed up against Norwich. I said Lee your a legend, he said "no son your a legend!" Great bloke
