Who Are Yer? Huddersfield Town

Vital Wednesday caught up with massive Town fan Richard to get his thoughts on this Saturday's game at Hillsborough, transfer speculation and how the season will pan out.

Here's the few from the Galpharm Stadium...

1. So, two defeats on the spin after THAT run - bubble burst or just a blip?

The million dollar question! Walking away from s6 at 4.55pm satday we will know more! We seem to struggle against the bottom half teams this season. We have the worst record of any team in top 7 against them. More worried about chesterfield at home boxing day than this one.

2. I take it Town fans would have swapped that unbeaten run for promotion against Posh at Old Trafford?

Absolutely. In the end the only people who went on about the run were the media and other fans. Talk to the majority of town fans and they couldn't give 2 hoots (no pun intended!) about it. I mean will this town lot be mentioned in the same breath alongside wengers invincibles and cloughies team?! I think you know the answer to that!!

3. Are you happy with where Town are at at this stage? Are you meeting expectations?

Ish but I would like to be seeing more signs that things will be different than the last 2 seasons. The hope is the best is yet to come because I can't say at home we've put a side to the sword yet. The players Clark brought in during the summer have a lot of question marks about them. Donal McDermott barely played, same with Anton Robinson, Danny Ward a huge disappointment. The list goes on.

4. How confident are you of a win on Saturday?

Funny what a different a week makes. Ask me after the Charlton game I'd have said fairly but after saturdays no show who knows!? One things for sure I'm certain it will be more of a test than last seasons game at s6 where I thought we played like a top 2 side that night. I still think we'll win. Wednesday are on a good run but who've they played??

5. Who are Town's dangermen that we should be wary of?

Of course Jordan Rhodes's goals speak for themselves. Jon Parkin has a good history against Wednesday but has looked rusty in his first 2 games with us. Last season I'd have mentioned Gary Roberts and Danny Ward but this season they've been very poor but don't be surprised if one of them turns it on for Saturday

6. And any weak links?

The defensive line is so slow and with Jack Hunt probably missing replaced by the woefully slow ex-Blade Gary Naysmith I do worry about you exposing us down the flanks. We've just signed an ex-Wednesday loan man in Alex Bruce whom I rate so hopefully he will provide some much needed steel in there. One of the few to emerge with any credit last Saturday.

7. Owls fans have been hearing about the possibility of Gary Roberts signing in January - do you know much about this? How do you rate him as a player?

I heard this mentioned and was surprised. He's out of form at the moment but a player I rate highly. If you're expecting a flying winger then you'll be disappointed but he has a great knack of making something out of nothing and a player I'd be gutted to lose. Especially to a rival.

8. Memory lane - what's your most memorable Owls v Town moment?

There's been a few. Last seasons cakewalk at hillsborough had us all believing it could be our season. We looked the part. Pilkington's rocket in the return past weaver another beauty. Our paths have not crossed too many times over the years.

9. If you could swap one Town player for a Wednesday player who would it be and why?

Would love to swap Alan Lee for Gary Madine. Goals, power and youth v no pace, barely any goals and a man who's career is in its twilight

10. Finally, predictions - both for Saturday and for the season for both teams.

Wednesday a club that hold a place to my heart with my friend Leigh Bromby playing here. Enjoyed some good times even if it wasnt the most succesful period in Wednesday's history! Matt Hamshaw v Watford league cup q/f anyone!!? Hope we both can get up! Sitting on the fence today. 2-2!

Big thanks to Richard for taking the time out to talk to Vital ahead of this weekend's big game. Good luck for the rest of the season, apart from tomorrow of course. Richard can be contacted on Twitter @superkos.

Should be a cracker, Wednesday aren't conceding many at present and normally score a couple at home so I'm going for a 2-1 Owls win (O'Grady and Lowe). Mind you I thought that last week at Oldham and we won 2-0, if only we'd conceded I'd have been bang on!! I can't see many clubs in England have such a strong home record this season so doubt Huddersfield are looking forward to Saturday. they're hardly coming into it full of confidence whereas Wednesday are flying.

who have wednesday played? just about all the teams in the division pal, that's how a league works you play everyone twice and as you get to half way you've generally seen everyone.
