Batth set to remain an Owl for season

Defender Danny Batth is all set to remain at Hillsborough on-loan for the rest of the season, according to reports this lunchtime.

Owls boss Gary Megson has been clear in his desire to keep the impressive youngster, on-loan at S6 from Wolverhampton Wanderers, beyond the expiry of his initial six-month deal in January.

The deal, which will be a massive boost for the Owls in their quest for promotion from npower League One this season, has yet to be officially completed but is expected to be tied up in the coming days.

Batth has formed a superb partnership with skipper Rob Jones in the heart of the Wednesday defence and the news will be a bonus Christmas present for Owls fans as soon as it official goes through.

The 21-year-old has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Owls so far this season, and it's his second loan stint at S6 after bolstering the back-line towards the end of last season.

awesome news he's been a great player. now for marshall!!
newman87
Yep, great news and the most likely outcome given Wolves' level of co-operation throughout. So it's all eyes on Marshall & Bywater now but what about Llera and Beevers? Given the choice I think I'd opt for the Spaniard.

Great news Batth is a quality centre back hopefully Marshall will now stay aswell. On llera and Beevers i'd rather have Beevers back as he is a up and coming talent

Will be interesting to see who leaves in Jan. Im assuming Reynolds will go no point in having 3 LB's obvoiusly Joc and maybe AJ or ROD out on loan. Clinton will be off to when MK stump up the cash. Thoughts??

I'd imagine the club will happily listen to any offers that come in for the fringe players, and that includes Reynolds, Coke, Sedgwick, JJ, D Jones and Otsemobor, as well as Beevers & Morrison. Trouble is, I can't see clubs falling over themselves to take them off our hands. A couple might secure a loan deal but I reckon the rest will just end up running down their contracts, worst luck!
OurMaurice
Can't see MK Dons stumping up any cash for CM or even taking him on a free. They have been scoring goals for fun and can't see them hitting the self distruct button but hope they do

hope someone takes jj!

As always OurMaurice says what I'm thinking... (Spooky!) What I would like to see is the following. Madine, Lowe, The big "O" and Watt all stay as is. Bywater, Weaver and ROD as our between the sticks options. Reda, Buxton, RJ, Batth stay fit with Three suitable cover players (1 CH + 2 FB). Marshall, Lines, Semedo and ???? in the middle with Prutton and two suitably versatile players as back up. Who the players are I've not named I don't really mind as long as they are good enough. The fringe players at the moment I don't think in the middle of the park are coming any where near challenging for a spot!! Time to make the changes we need without wrecking what we've got!! Meggo and Milan have achieved already so much. UTO WAWAW

Haha but don't worry 4evaOWL, telepathy isn't a strong point of mine although stating the obvious is! And it was fairly obvious GM was far from impressed by the squad he inherited back in February. He went on record to say he wouldn't bring any loans in and instead give that squad every chance to prove themselves. About a month later he brought in Danny Batth & Rob Jones (& O'Brien at FB a couple of weeks after that). I think his summer clearout would've included some or all of those players I've mentioned above (if anyone had come in and declared an interest at the time) as his rebuilding plans only seem to have involved Weaver, Buxton, Reda, Madine, JO'C & (oddly enough) JJ (Reda because he's been a revelation at LB) then add RO'D as cover for Weaver & Palmer as the token youngster with the potential to earn himself a regular spot. I'd accept injuries have reduced the worth of some of these fringe players but I'd suggest few if any have a part to play in the club's future and the sooner they can be shipped out and replaced by players who do the better.
