Batth loan extension confirmed by Owls

Wednesday have confirmed a deal to extend defender Danny Batth's loan until the end of the season.

As reported on Vital Wednesday earlier today, the 21-year-old will remain a vital part of Wednesday's defence until May after the Owls and Wolverhampton Wanderers, his parent club, agreed an extension to his loan.

Batth had penned an initial six-month loan deal from Molineux at the start of the season - his second loan spell after featuring for the Owls towards the end of last season.

He told the official SWFC website: 'I'm delighted. I was here at the back end of last season and the first half of this season so I've managed to be around while the team has developed and I think I've played a good part in that, so to extend the deal is something I'm happy about.'

Wednesday boss Gary Megson is now expected to turn his attentions to keeping influential wing wizard Ben Marshall, on-loan from Stoke City, beyond his initial sixth-month loan from the Premier League club.

He's out of contract at the end of season, Morrison & J J straight swap would be a good deal for us.

Don't think there is an option not to sign up Marshall on the same deal as a minimum!! Would like to see someone of his quality going forward on the other wing to be honest!! Did anyone notice on Saturday that Mego switched Lines and Prutton and Lines kept drifting in which kept exposing the young lad covering Buxtons spot. It was soon swapped around after the second goal!! GREAT NEWS UTO IMMIT

Out of interest, what does Batth bring that we don't get with Beevers?

roberts played on the left saturday same position as marshall. i think right side of midfield as been our problem position all season

but either of those players are good enough to go down the right and interchange like harkes and waddle who played on the opposite flanks

Oh yes Hirtsy!! You just bought back some very fond memories! Harkes and Waddle!!! Awesome! But as already mentioned, Roberts would be an excellent shout after the performance he put in against us! To be fair, Roberts-Lines/Prutton-Semedo-Marshall in midfield with 2 of Madine, O'Grady or Lowe up top sounds pretty formidable to me, i think our defence, although a bit dodgy at times, is pretty much sorted although the sooner Buxton is back the better. Onwards and Upwards go the Super Owls. It's a great time to be an Owls fan!

I've only been a owls fan for 5 years now... I've not got the past to live in!! Chance would be a fine thing. (Having learnt of the history of the club) I started following the mighty owls when we were already in free fall I have fond memories but only from recent times, the survival match V's Norwich amongst only a few but this year is the first time I've really felt the positivity of the faithful and I'm loving it... I dare to think that we will continue to improve if the current situation remains and the people steering the ship keep making the correct decisions for the benefit of the Club, the team and the supporters. UTO A good 2011 so far hopefully a result on Boxing day and the 2012 we are all hoping for WTID

4evaOWL i hope we return to the premier league and regularly playing what would be called big games, you will love it. The days when man u, arsenal, etc came to hillsborough and you would turn up expecting to beat them. very difficult to imagine now. the next time we play anyone like that we'll all be hoping we don't get pasted!
