Folly Injury Blow

In-form Wednesday midfielder Yoann Folly will undergo a scan to find out the damage to his knee after he was stretchered off in the Owls 1-0 defea to Luton Town on Tuesday night.

The Frenchman, signing in the summer from Southampton, has been Wednesday's best player in the opening games of the new Champioship season and will have a scan this week to see how long he'll be sidelined for.

Owls boss Paul Sturrock told the official SWFC website Folly may be set for a spell on the sidelines: 'It looks bad. He's in agony on the bench. It will be a couple of days before we know but it looks sore. Yoann was getting better and better with every game and it will be a huge loss to us. With Bullen going out as well, it's going to be the academy players on the bench.'

The news will be a further blow to Paul Sturrock's already thin squad as he aims to improve on last season's finish in the Championship. Lee Bullen is currently serving a three-game ban, so it means Kenny Lunt may get the nod in midfield to partner Glenn Whelen for the clash with Burnley on Saturday.

The Frenchman impressed while on loan at Hillsborough from Southampton towards the end of last season. Folly made 14 appearances for the club and helped them avoid a swift return to League One. Sturrock made the deal a permanent one in the summer.
