Ben Marshall set for Owls loan stay

Wednesday's on-loan wing wizard Ben Marshall is all set to extend his deal at Hillsborough until the end of the season, according to reports today.

Marshall has been one of the star performers for the Owls so far this term and the Daily Express is reporting he's set to remain an Owl until the end of the campaign - as well as pen a new three-year contract with parent club Stoke City.

The news will be a big boost for Owls boss Gary Megson as he aims to get Wednesday promoted back to the npower Championship this season, with 20-year-old Marshall a key weapon.

There was talk of signing the impressive Marshall at S6 on a permanent deal, but this news will be the next best thing for Wednesdayites.

The winger was also rumoured to have been attracting the interest of League One rivals Huddersfield Town, but Stoke boss Tony Pulis is seemingly pleased for the hot prospect to continue his development in the blue and white of Wednesday.

Pulis told the Express: 'Ben is a fantastic prospect and it was always our intention to keep him here.

'He's done well at Wednesday and will get good experience there but we think he has a great future at Stoke.'

Brilliant news! Keeping hold of the player was more important than how it's done. Loan arrangements don't come cheap but at least Meggo hasn't had to blow his entire transfer allowance on his number one target.
