Owls set to swoop for Bury's Jones

Bury's highly-rated winger Mike Jones is set for an imminent move to Hillsborough, according to reports.

Owls manager Gary Megson is in the market for new players, especially a winger, in the January transfer window and he seems to have found his man in 24-year-old Jones.

The former Tranmere Rovers man is out-of-contract at Gigg Lane in the summer and Wednesday are understood to have bid a cut-price £100,000 for the player.

Jones has made 25 league appearances for Bury this season, scoring three goals along the way.

If the move comes off he could provide a good link-up with striker Ryan Lowe, who also made the switch to S6 from Bury earlier in the season.

Wednesday are yet to confirm any deal, or any move, for the midfield fan so keep checking Vital Wednesday to see if the deal's been sealed.

Very similar to the Chris Lines deal - proven at this level, good age and at a cutdown price. In Meggo we trust!

At this rate us fans will have a job on keeping up with the Joneses! What are the odds on all three playing at the same time? Someone will come on here and say 'It's Not Unusual'. Oops, I just did!

Lets go and get Kenwyne and Phil too please!

OurMaurice I was saying to the wife just last night what is it with J's and the moment?? RJ passes to RJ, goes forward to DJ, cross-field ball to MJ who slips a great ball through to JJ who puts it in the stand from a yard out!! lol UTO (Love Meggo's quote on JJ regards miss against the hammers, "There's probably not another player on the pitch that could have got into that position! Admittedly there wasn't another on the pitch that could miss from there either" UTO

How frustrating can JJ be? It's a shame. I get the impression Meggo really rates him and he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet if he showed any kind of consistency. He reminds me a bit of Mark Chamberlain during his time in a Wednesday shirt. You'd maybe get one sublime moment before Wilko dragged him off, the rest of the time it was like he'd never seen a football before never mind been asked to kick one!

...ah, nostalgia: Garry Thompson mis-timing his jumps in order to meet crosses Mark Chamberlain forgot to send over!
