Owls complete deal for Bury winger

Wednesday have completed the capture of Bury winger Mike Jones for an undisclosed fee

As reported on Vital Wednesday earlier, the 24-year-old has become the Owls' third signing of the January transfer window - following hot-on-the-heels of Stephen Bywater and Miguel Llera.

The former Tranmere Rovers man has penned a two-and-a-half year deal at Hillsborough.

The fee is undisclosed but is being reported to be around 100,000, a cut-price deal given Jones's contract at Gigg Lane was coming to an end at the end of the current campaign.

Jones is expected to go straight into Gary Megson's squad to face Charlton Athletic at S6 this weekend.

Good bit of business by the sound of it!

with abit of luck he could be a gem.

good signing for wednesday he's only 24 and good to see us signing players on permanent deals as well
carlton owl
That means we lost Marshall then for sure no room for 2 left sided wingers
Wads Wiggle
is'nt this guy a right winger ?
retfordowl1867
I heard two things today, one of them was that we were signing Mike Jones , the other was Marshall was in talks with Hull, but then on twitter apparently Nick Barmby conceded defeat saying he would now sign for us for the rest of the season. please let it be true.
ecco owl
we beat Middlesbrough to him according to bury fans. and put the crosses over for bury to beat owls
mick66owl
Sorry retford yeh your right im now hearing that we could be getting Marshall lets hope its true
Wads Wiggle
Yeah he's predominantly right-sided but can play in the middle too apparently if needed!

Have we helped Utd out here a little being that Jones would have been in the starting line to face them?? Ahhh well I'm sure he'll help us more over the remaining games than this will cost us this weekend. I'm hopeful that Marshall or Roberts is going to be our next signing. With Jones arrival I reckon we'll only sign one of them if DJ and JJ don't depart during the window. Has anyone heard if there's been anything more on Grabban?? IMMIT

Given em coke back to try and help us out!
north stand owl
... North stand lets send them all the fringe players for the weekend free of charge. We could send DJ, Coke, Clinton and Beevers. UTO

I think Coke at Bury till the end of the season is a nice deal sweetner for Bury and will ease their loss. I just hope Mike is the player we all hope he is... I guess being he's ready to go he may be put straight in Saturday, a chance to make his name in the famous blue n' white instantly. WAWAW

Potentially bywater on a groundbreaking 24 hour loan deal!?

It's time for Barker & Shirtliff to prove their credentials as Wednesdayites. We'll let 'em off for August if they redeem themselves tomorrow!
