Mandaric linked with Rangers buyout

Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric has been linked with the buyout of crisis-hit Scottish club Rangers.

The SPL side went into administration earlier this week and sources north of the border indicate Mandaric has been in contact with the administrators, Duff and Phelps, at Ibrox to show his interest.

The company said yesterday there have been 'several expressions of interest from parties not connected to the club', with BBC Scotland reporting that they believe Wednesday's former Leicester City and Portsmouth owner to be one of.

The 73-year-old Serbian businessman, who's officially been chairman at Hillsborough for just under a year, has made saving clubs from financial problems a speciality following previous jobs at Pompey and Leicester - and stepped in with the Owls close to administration.

Mandaric has yet to confirm or deny today's reports. If and when he does, you'll see his comments right here on Vital Sheffield Wednesday.

Sounds about right. we never were destined to be a stable club and a year of "normality" is just about all we can manage

Oh here we go! I'd read MM had called off a press conference the other day due to ill health and thought that after three soft defeats are enough to make anyone sick! I can imagine there being a grain of truth to this story (unless he acts quickly and denies all knowledge etc etc), it's the sort of business opportunity he's become famous for, but I'd sincerely hope the distraction in no way affects his commitment to Wednesday.

Im a little concerned by this but I think Milan will see Rangers as a get rich quick club. He will buy, sort debts, win league and sell for a huge profit. Where as Wednesday is a longer term investment. Im sure it all gonna be fine. End of the day Milan is a businessman. For the money he has put into Wednesday there is no way he will drop us in it because at the minute he wont get a good return on his investments. He knows how massive we are and he likes being here. Hope im not being too optimistic!!! UTO

@ SkySources - Mandaric has no intrest in buying Glasgow Rangers and is fully commited to Sheffield Wednesday. He goes on to say he doesn't know where this story has come from.
