'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mandaric 'shocked' at Rangers links

Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric has responded to reports linking him with a buyout of Rangers by issuing a statement to 'categorically deny' any interest in the SPL side.

Reports north of the border this morning said the Owls' former Leicester City and Portsmouth owner was keen on helping the crisis-hit Glasgow club after they went into administration earlier in the week.

Mandaric has responded swiftly to deny the reports, however. His statement on the official SWFC read:

'I am aware and shocked at the media reports today linking my name to an inquiry over the potential purchase of Glasgow Rangers Football Club.

'First and foremost, I can categorically deny that there is any substance to these stories and I am disappointed that such articles are printed without any foundation whatsoever. I have never had any dialogue or contact to anyone relating to Glasgow Rangers.

'Glasgow Rangers is a huge football club with a great heritage and history, but I already have that that here at Sheffield Wednesday.

'For clarity, I have not instructed any of my associates to register an interest in the administration process at Glasgow Rangers and I have no interest, now or in the future, of becoming involved in the club.'

Quite right to MM, why would would you want to get involved with two horse race boring dull Scotish football? Where's the challenge in that?

Won't be a two horse race for much longer, Celtic will be on their own.
