Owls sign Reading winger Antonio

Wednesday have signed Reading winger Michail Antonio on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old will be eligible to go straight into the Owls squad to face Sheffield United in the Steel City derby on Sunday.

The Owls are reported to have approached Antonio earlier in the season, after a successful loan stint with Colchester United, but he was said to have rejected the move because his partner was due to give birth at the time.

Antonio has been used mainly as back-up for Jimmy Kebe with the Royals but has featured regularly in the Championship since the turn of the year.

Owls fans will be hoping Antonio has a similar impact to that of former loan star Ben Marshall, now at Leicester City, as Wednesday look to get their promotion push firmly back on track.

Whoop!! great signing... never satisfied though think we've room for at least one more loan player. Now Llera and Bywater have signed properly we have only 2 with Bost and Batth I think, may as well have the full 4... someone of true class would be nice a quality midfield player that can play inside or outside. Go on Gary and Milan suprise us all... (in a good way!!) WAWAW
