Striker next on the list for Megson

Owls boss Gary Megson is looking to complement the loan capture of Michail Antonio by bringing in a new striker before the end of the week, Vital understands.

Antonio agreed a loan switch to Hillsborough from Reading today and Megson doesn't want to stop there in bolstering his squad ahead of Sunday's big Steel City derby against Sheffield United.

With the Owls strikers currently misfiring in front of goal, Megson is understood to be keen on adding to his options with another emergency loan signing this week.

Top-scorer Gary Madine, who has 12 goals to his name this season, has scored just once since the Owls met the Blades in the reverse fixture back in October.

Chris O'Grady, although important in Megson's starting eleven, doesn't have a good goals-to-games ratio, while Ryan Lowe has been hit-and-miss and Clinton Morrison has scored just one league goal this term.

Megson is thought to be keen on adding a new striker before the end of the week, and in time for the derby, but may have to wait to get his man.

It needs to be a striker with a little pace and eye for goal who is willing to get behind the back four. They are not easy to find and especially on loan!

There were rumours flying around last night that we may borrow Alfie from Reading aswell. But agree would be nice to have an all out pace striker who is willing to run for everything with a proven eye for goal. UTO (Would be really nice to have one secured for Sunday)

I would prefer a winger who can put in a decent cross.
