'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Reading fan's view of Michail Antonio

Michail Antonio has signed on-loan for Wednesday from Reading for the rest of the season, and we got in touch with Vital Reading editor Josh for his views on the winger.

We asked about Antonio's strengths, weaknesses and what the future holds for him, so we'll cut straight to the chase...

Strengths: As well as being a very pacey winger, Antonio is also very powerful. His crossing is very on and off but his finishing is getting much better, as he showed on his previous loan spell with Colchester where he scored five goals.

His secret weapon is his long-throw, if you have big players you are in for a treat, as he can certainly launch a ball in with his throw. It`s not exactly a Delap where its low and flat, its more of a ballooning throw which hangs in the air but is always a good weapon to have. He can also do his defensive duties well when asked.

Weaknesses: Antonio's touch on occasion can very much let him down. Sometimes his pace gets him out of trouble with a poor touch but it can be very frustrating. As said before, his crossing is hit and miss but when he does rarely get it right, it pays off. Maybe tries to beat his man a little too often and would probably be much more effective if he had an attacking right-back playing with him.

Future: I personally think he has a future at this club if we remain in the Championship. I think he will be a good Championship player at best but is without a doubt a crucial squad player to have at the moment. He has made a few appearances this season and the jury is still out on him. Seems to get better as the game gets on but I think he can do a great job in League One and could make a difference in your promotion push. I wish him the best of luck with you!

I thought that that was a wednesdayites view of Jermain Johnson. Maybe the injury details were omitted but other than that, pretty much spot on. :)
