JJ set for eight weeks on sidelines

Wednesday have received a blow with the news that in-form winger Jermaine Johnson is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks with a knee injury.

The Jamaican pulled up with the injury in Saturday's defeat at Chesterfield and it's expected that he'll now miss the rest of the season.

The news is a blow for Wednesday but not entirely unexpected given Johnson's injury record.

It's also softened by the fact that the Owls signed Reading winger Michail Antonio on-loan until the end of the current campaign.

Johnson is out of contract at Hillsborough at the end of the season and the set-back could be crucial in any decision to offer him a new deal.

Nothing new there then. An injured Jermaine Johnson. Unheard of. I think you can safely say he played his last game for us at the weekend. I cannot see Sheffield Wednesday offering him a new contract, he is too much of a liability long term and also he is not getting any younger. Sad to say it but its all over for jj.

It's sad to say, Kettering, but I think you're right, and just when the guy way just finding his way, again, and really contributing to the team. He must be gutted. Let's hope that the new loan really steps up to the plate!

Massive blow for us this. He was playing his best football Ive ever seen from him and scored goals that only he could score. Unfortunately its the injuries and his lack of consistancy thats held him back. But defenders can only stop him by clattering him and its inevitable that he will get injured.

For me, this is the final straw. It's the story of his career and makes it impossible for the Owls to integrate him into the squad. I would rather invest the money in a similar player who is younger. Actually (as I've said before), I would love to get a player of Chris Brunt's ilk - someone who can provide service to our strikers. Then watch Gary Madine start banging 'em in again.

Anyone else impressed by Danny Rose bossing the left wing for Spurs at the weekend? Methinks: he's a fringe player who'll be getting few first team opportunities aside from the FA Cup. MM's still friendly with Harry Redknapp? Gotta be worth an ask!

Chris Turner bought JJ from Bradford for £500k with the intention of nurturing him into a top class player and then to sell him on after 2 years for a massive profit! Pity we didn't follow the plan. Mind you he said the same thing about Guylain Ndumbu Nsingu.

Never rated JJ, has no final product, bit of a primadona! Actually glad he Injured, and will be quite happy to see him go TBH.
