Watford beat Owls to Trotta signing

Watford beat Owls to Trotta signing

Wednesday have missed out on the loan signing of Fulham striker Marcelo Trotta, who has instead opted for a move to Championship side Watford.

Owls boss Gary Megson had been targeting a new striker coming in on-loan before Sunday's derby clash with Sheffield United and he revealed at today's press conference that the man in question was the 19-year-old Fulham hitman.

But, with the pull of higher-division football, Trotta has instead moved to Vicarage Road on a one-month deal.

Trotta excelled during a loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers earlier in the season, scoring eight goals in as many games for the Chairboys.

It caught the eye of Megson, and Championship clubs, and Trotta will now test himself in the second tier of English football rather than the third.

Megson is now set to look at other options to bolster his forward line but a new man isn't expected to be in before Sunday's derby clash.

Can't see Baldock coming to us, he's been coming on as a sub for West Ham of late. Trotta happened a couple of days ago, let's hope we've moved on to our back-up plan!
