Owls stopper makes Macclesfield loan move

Wednesday goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell has moved to League Two side Macclesfield Town on an emergency 28-day loan.

The move will give the Owls Academy product the opportunity of much-needed first-team football after falling down the pecking order at Hillsborough.

He's currently third choice at Wednesday behind Stephen Bywater and Nicky Weaver.

O'Donnell has made 20 appearances for the Owls but has never nailed down a first-team spot, despite some decent performances in goal.

He's eligible to feature for Macclesfield in their trip to face Oxford United tomorrow and could go straight into the starting line-up.

I would keep ROD and let Nicky Weaver go at the end of the season. Makes more sense for the future, Nicky isn't getting any younger.
