Who Are Yer?: Plymouth Argyle

Next up for the Owls is a tough trip to high-flying Plymouth Argyle - Vital Sheffield Wednesday talks to Plymouth fan Ross about his side's start to the season, the new faces at the club, and Paul Sturrock's return...

--------------------------------------------

1. How've you started the season?

We couldn't really have asked for a better start. Seven points from a possible nine against Wolves, Colchester and Sunderland is an excellent achievement, espescially considering two of those games were away and that we only won 3 games away from home in the whole of last season. We look like
scoring goals now Pulis has gone and the players seem full of confidence.

2. Who have you brought in over the summer?

Barry Hayles - Striker - For 100,000 from Millwall. At 34 a lot of people thought that paying that sort of money for Hayles wasn't worth it but i think in his first three games he has proved that he can score plenty of goals at this level and still has plenty to offer. Has been man of the match
in 2 of the 3 games he has played in so far.
sylvan Ebanks-Blake - Striker - We signed him for 200,000 from Man Utd and a lot of 'bigger' clubs were after him. He looks very promising so far but is only 20 years old and has only started one game so far. Definitely one for the future. Josh Clapham - Goalkeeper - Signed from Plymouth university as cover and has looked very promising so far as back up to Luke McCormick and Romain Larrieu

3. What do you think to Ian Holloway?

Absolutely spot on. A complete breath of fresh air after boring Pulis. He has the fans and media in fits of laughter and comes out with some great sayings. He also seems to be able to attract top players to Plymouth which Pulis always claimed he couldn't do because we are miles away from anywhere. Personally, I think he is the right man for teh job down here. Plymouth
Argyle suits Ian Holloway and Ian Holloway suits Plymouth Argyle and if he gets the team spirit of Paul Sturrocks days back, we can go on and have a great season.

4. Were you one of the fans he offered to buy a pint for travelling to
Sunderland?!

Unfortunately not. I had a 21st Birthday party Friday evening and would have
been in no fit state to travel on the Saturday. Having been to the stadium
of light last time we played there though (and lost 5-1, on a Tuesday night), I totally understand why he would say that because it is a nightmare journey from Plymouth to Sunderland.

5. Are you looking forward to see Sturrock and Coughlan back at Home
Park again?

Personally, Yes. A lot of people think Paul Sturrock is a 'Judas' but we wouldn't be where we are now without him and most people would have made the move to Southampton if in his position. Graham Coughlan was an outstanding player for us and i was quite pissed off when he left as it was down to Bobby Williamson and Paul Wotton. It was obvious when he returned last season that was friction between Wotton and Coughlan. I'm sure they will both recieve a good reception.

6. I don't think the Wednesday fans have seen the best of Peter
Gilbert and Steve Adams yet, how did they perform for you?

Steve Adams is a great bloke and his parents live in the next street from me
so i see him around down here quite often, however, I don't think he is a championship player. He would be a great league one or league two player but he is a little out of his depth in the championship. I wasn't too bothered when we sold Peter Gilbert to Leicester to be honest and i don't think most Argyle fans were. I think Lee Hodges or Tony Capaldi can do a better job there. Gilbert was booed from the picth a few times but he is young and Paul Sturrock will get the best out of both players.

7. Who are your danger men?

David Norris and Akos Buzsaky. Norris will fight for every ball and run around like a headless chicken every single game and was voted player of the year last season. If Akos Buzsaky is fit on Saturday i'm sure he will start too. He is very skillful and can score a decent free kick and also quite good own goals as your lot found out last season!

8. If you could take one Wednesday player to Home Park who would it
be and why?

Graham Coughlan. We are missing a player of his ability. He is great in the air and can score a lot of goals from set pieces, which none of our defenders at the moment can really do.

9. If you could send a Plymouth player up here who would it be and why?

Paul Wotton. Sturrock seems to like him a lot but in truth, he is an awful player who is only playing because of his free kicks and penalties. Can't pass the ball and just lumps it up in the air all the time.

10. How do you think we'll do this season?

Mid table to lower half. I can't see you doing a lot, espescially with the
uncertainty surrounding Sturrock and the unrest between him and Dave Allen!
Without any money to spend or any chance of bringing any players in on loan, i think that might be your big downfall, espescially with the amount of injuries you seem to get up there!

11. What is your most memorable Plymouth v Wednesday match?

When we won the old Division 2 (League 1) on a Wednesday night and we came up and absolutely dominated the game and won 3-1. Friio scored two on that night and we looked unstoppable and i think that was the beginning of the end for Chris Turner for you guys.

12. What do you think the score will be?
1-1

Coughlan, Buzsak

--------------------------------------------

CHEERS ROSS - GOOD LUCK FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON.

NEXT UP - L**DS UNITED!
