Owls linked with Robbie Fowler move

Wednesday have been linked with a shock move for former Liverpool and Manchester City striker Robbie Fowler on a short-term contract.

Owls boss Dave Jones is considering a deal for the 36-year-old until the end of the season, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The Liverpool legend recently rejected terms on a deal to sign for Championship club Blackpool, understood to have been just £90 a week with a fee of £5,000 per game for the Seasiders.

Jones worked with Fowler during his time as manager of Cardiff City, something which could help sway Fowler towards a final flourish of his playing career with the Owls.

Would love to see Robbie Fowler in a Wednesday shirt, despite his age would still be a welcomed signing by most Owls fans and I personally think he would be able to do the business in this league. God!!!
SWFC Tubes 84
Not for me thanks and he was overweight and past it years ago when he was at Leeds!
TheMightyBoosh
Where is he playing right now? And offering Robbie Fowler 90 pounds a week must be the funniest thing I've heard all year. You can make more by cleaning toilets in third world countries.
RatherRandomOwl
lazy lazy journalism, he was past it 5 years ago, load of bollox.
ozzietheowl
Seen him play a few times in the A league last season and he's not the stand out player I expected. For me overall the A league is not as good as the first div in England. Not the progressive signing I'd like to see.
AuzzieOwl
As much as I dont agree with the signing, this isn't the time of the season that you sign a 'progressive signing, this time oif the season it's about getting someone in who can help guide you to the promised land! Robbie ain't that guy for me as a player - as a coach in and around the squad i think he would have a positive impact and add some confidence to our squad.
Balli80
i disagree, hy would be want some burnt out veteren with a bit of an attitude problem hanging around the place?
ozzietheowl
You don't think our players could learn anything from Robbie Fowler? Am I on the Real Madrid forum? Mis Disculpas buñuelo.
Balli80
i fail to see what an old footballer that has done feckall for years can teach our strikers.

Karl Oyston's offer says to Fowler "You're not fit enough. Why should we pay you, overweight and under-trained, thousands for a few ten minute cameos? Prove you can get back to something like match fitness and that's when you'll get your money." Wednesday doesn't need a bench-warming used-to-be-legend a stone and a half bigger than he should be. We have all the confidence we need from three straight wins, and the thrashing we'll give to Walsall next time out.
Auckland Owl
So not signing a 'progressive' player would be more beneficial to improving our chances of promotion? So would a Player of less quality improve us? We need players who have something to offer and improve the squad so as a team we progress

I see the "Was it right to sack Megson" poll is evening out from its original "Major" No" voting pattern. Onwards and up.
