Jason Koumas to train with Wednesday

Wednesday boss Dave Jones has revealed that former West Brom and Cardiff City midfielder Jason Koumas will train with Wednesday next week.

Jones revealed the news at a meeting alongside chairman Milan Mandaric with Wednesday supporters tonight, but stressed that it doesn't mean the Owls will necessarily sign the free agent.

The Welsh international has been linked with a move to Hillsborough throughout the season but a deal now looks closer than ever given the players impending arrival at Middlewood Road and his links with Jones.

Koumas, now 32, played under Jones during his time in the Welsh capital with the Bluebirds - he had two loan stints with the club, the first from West Brom and the second from Wigan Athletic.

He's been a free agent since last summer after being released from his contract with the Latics, on completion of his loan with Cardiff.

could be useful till end of season

get him in if he's free, would do a job for us!

Really don't see the harm in having him on the books till the end of the season if he could re-discover some of his best form training with our lads then when it really comes to the crunch is there many free agents that could change a game like he could with he quality of he dead ball he can deliver and killer passes he's capable of. Could present an effective plan "C" in the last few games of the season if he can achieve true match fitness. WTID Looking forward to tomorrow just hope we keep the pressure on!! UTO

I agree. Free footballers at this level with his qualities can be nothing other than a positive move. Sign him up, the more strength in depth with quality the better.

Someone mentioned it was time we gave someone a good spanking. What better place than on live TV tomorrow lunchtime. I think it's due,and i think there's a good chance of it happening. Lets hope i'm right. Come on you blue and white wizards

Yep I'm all in favour of breaking the TV hoodoo and going large on the score would be wonderful. When you do the sum of 1 divided by zero you get infinity. Therefore 1-0 to the Wednesday will be fine :)

5-0 would be even better!!

Don't forget Koumas has not played for ages now. Which means it will take him weeks to get to full match fitness, but will be a great signing and will bring a proven player to the squad. If we have to go through the playoffs this may be crucial.

I agree, can't see him getting match-fit between now and the end of the season and just a shame nobody thought of bringing him in sooner - maybe in January!?!
