In our latest poll we asked you if Owls chairman Dave Allen should wait until December to offer boss Paul Sturrock a new contract at the club - and 88 per cent of Vital Sheffield Wednesday users have voted AGAINST Allen's decision.
The Wednesday chairman caused a stir among Owls fans when he announced on BBC Radio Sheffield that the Scot wouldn't be offered a new deal until Christmas - leaving just six months on his contract.
And the majority of Vital Sheffield Wednesday users disagree with Allen's decision, with just 12 per cent agreeing he's made the right choice for the club.
Sturrock's three-year contract at the club comes to an end next September, and the former Plymouth Argyle boss publically criticised his chairman's decision to make the news public and 'destabilise' the club in difficult times.
But Allen responded the following day by issuing a statement on the official website. Allen insisted he had discussions about a contract extension with Sturrock at his home before the pre-season friendly with Middlesbrough. According to the statement the pair agreed the best time to discuss an extension would be at christmas so a contract could be thrashed out in accordance to the Owls position at that time.
But the move has led to fears among Owls fans that Sturrock may well quit Hillsborough for pastures new as he struggles to put together a competative squad with the current cash restraints in place at S6.
Sturrock has already exceeded expecations at the club after achieving promotion in his first season at the club via the League One play-offs. He then equalled that by keeping the club in the Championship at the first time of asking and has made a decent start to the new campaign despite the current injury crisis.
With the current rumours of a takeover being planned at the club it's anyones guess what will happen next at Hillsborough. But one thing is for sure, I'm sure you'll agree - we hope to be talking about a successful Owls side led by Paul Sturrock this time next year!
