Jones and Llera scoop awards double

Jones and Llera scoop awards double

Wednesday have won an npower League 1 awards double today with boss Dave Jones taking the April Manager of the Month award and Miguel Llera winning the Player of the Month accolade.

The awards were handed out just a day before the Owls try and secure automatic promotion to the Championship and both Jones and Llera have been key in overhauling Sheffield United into second place.

It's the second month on the spin Jones has taken the Manager of the Month award. After winning five and drawing one of his matches in charge of Wednesday in March, Jones guided the Owls to 13 points from a possible 15 in April.

The 2-1 win at Brentford at the weekend, the last match of the month, was enough to see Wednesday leapfrog United into the automatic promotion spots after the Blades dropped points against Stevenage.

Llera scored the winner in the clash with the Bees, and has been the Owls' star performer in April, coupling his defensive qualities with key goals and assists along the way.

Both Jones and Llera will be hoping to continue that success into tomorrow's crucial sell-out home clash against Wycombe Wanderers, which would see the Owls promoted if they equal or better United's result at Exeter.
