Owls' Town Hall celebration details

Wednesdayites are being invited to join in the Owls' promotion celebrations at a Civic Reception at Sheffield Town Hall today.

The club received an invite from Sheffield City Council to attend the reception following their promotion to the Championship on Saturday.

Tonight's event will run from 6pm-7pm at the Town Hall and thousands of Wednesday fans are expected at the event.

Owls chairman Milan Mandaric said: 'We are delighted that Sheffield City Council has invited Sheffield Wednesday Football Club to come to the town hall and celebrate our success.

'I am sure that our supporters will embrace this event and turn out in their full numbers. I am really looking forward to tonight.'

The Lord Mayor, Cllr Dr Sylvia Dunkley, who will greet the chairman, manager and players, said: 'We're delighted that Sheffield Wednesday has gained promotion to the Championship which is great news for the city.

'I'm sure thousands of fans will want to join in the celebrations marking their success and cheer on their sporting heroes.'

The Wednesday band, as well as mascots Ozzie and Barney Owl, will also be in attendance.

Fans are being asked to meet outside the town hall on Pinstone Street from 5.30pm.
