Six players released by Wednesday

Wednesday have announced they will release six players at the end of their contracts this summer.

Strikers Clinton Morrison and Vadaine Oliver, midfielder Chris Sedgwick, defender Jon Otsemobor and goalkeepers Richard O'Donnell and Sean Cuff will all be allowed to move on to pastures new as manager Dave Jones looks to build his squad for the Championship.

There's no news yet on the future of goalkeeper Stephen Bywater, defender Mark Beevers and winger Jermaine Johnson, however, who are also out-of-contract at Hillsborough. It could suggest the club is currently working on new deals for the trio.

Wednesday have rewarded academy Player of the Year Jarrod Kyle, who steps up to first team professional status, while Mitch Husbands will remain at the club for another year.

Young players Matt Tumilty, Lee Wall, Scott Canham and Tom Rowbotham will all be released.

I'm expecting some players still under contract to be transfer listed, hoping for some new acquisitions over the Summer to help consolidate in the championship but there's every chance of doing a Southampton!!

I'm sorry but we've got nowhere near as strong a team as Southampton had when they got promoted. Don't forget that Antonia & Batth are both loan players. If we can keep hold of them then we're a lot stronger. We need to sign 3-4 Championship players at least to challenge for promotion.

We need a striker thats goin to get at least 25 to 30 goals a season and two decent wingers to cause havoc dwn the flanks and can get decent crosses in.Such as Antoni or marshall mould.

no great surprises . looks like we will need 6 or 7 new players for next season
