Former Owl Batth keen on Wolves

Wednesday look set to miss out on signing former loan star Danny Batth on a permanent basis with the defender keen on breaking into the Wolves first team next season.

The 21-year-old was one of the Owls' star performers in their League One promotion campaign and Wednesday boss Dave Jones had made enquiries to Wolves over a permanent move.

But Wolves' relegation from the Premier League could well suit Batth, who's eager to play for the side where he started his career as a ten-year-old in the youth set-up.

'I've been at Wolves since I was 10-years-old so my ambition is still to play regularly in the first team,' Batth told the Express and Star.

He continued: 'I've really enjoyed the experience and am now really excited about getting back to Wolves and hopefully having a good pre-season.'

Wednesday were keen to bring the rock-solid defender back to Hillsborough for next term but it looks as though they may now have to turn their attentions elsewhere to bolster their defence.

Beevers and Lliera wouldn't be a bad choice for our CBs would it?

I'd be fearful of a lack of pace with both of them at the back!

Not entirely unexpected but still disappointed. Fair play to him I suppose, he did a great job for us and deserves a shot at his club. So what of his replacement? Any potential targets? I see we've just taken Koumas on board to get his fitness up. Could he do a job in midfield for us do you think? Also, any developments with Klasnic?

My first reaction was the same as yours, Padawan. But then I thought: 'Nah! Danny'll be sprawled out on a beach somewhere, trying not to get sand in his Cornetto. This'll be his agent trying to drum up a bit of business.'

Batth has been good. Bumped into him after the Exeter game and he didn't seem to happy or too bright. To be fair we had played pretty crap. Anyway think he has done well but we definitely need somebody with a bit of pace back there. Don't see him as being better than Beevers we just need a right sided centre back with a bit of calm composure and pace to compliment the Beever. Llerra is a legend to but Beev's is the future, hope he signs
