Wednesday confirm Lee signing

Wednesday have today confirmed the signing of Oldham Athletic defender Kieran Lee.

The right-back has penned a three-year deal at Hillsborough and will join when his contract expires with the Latics.

The 23-year-old is a product of the Manchester United youth set-up and has impressed in 177 appearances for Oldham.

Vital understands a number of clubs were chasing Lee's signature but the Owls have won the race for his signature.

Confirmation of the signing of Lee follows on from Chris Kirkland's arrival at S6 from Wigan Athletic.

Starting to take shape, feel we need 2 wingers (left and right), a DC with pace, a striker with pace to play off Madine & a creative/flair central midfielder for home games to play alongside Semedo. Would be very happy if we filled these positions with players <28 years old, and build a squad for the future.

Diogo amado? it says in the star, then when you look on his wiki page it's says he plays for sheff wed. Look a class act and just missed out on the Portuguese euro 2012 squad. If true this looks like a quality signing.

With absolute respect Jordo, what do you class as a 'strong rumour'? I have mixed feelings on the Klasnic thing if it's true. It smells a bit like another 'Clinton Morrison' signing in as much as, decent player in his prime but maybe a bit past it. I do 100% trust DJ and MM though so could be a master stroke/ coup for the club. Fingers crossed it works out.

Well according to Rob Staton on Twitter, the rumours about Ivan Klasnic are generated by the same person who said that we were signing Grant Leadbitter.

i with carbone on klasnic. i'd steer clear, the guy has had health problems and I respect that he is still battling to play at the highest level he can (and best of luck to him) but I think this represents too big a risk for us as we are not strong enough to carry anyone at this stage

My experience is that we will get more from players 'on the way up' rather than those 'on the way down'. Clinton Morrison is a great example of a player on the way down who came in with big expectations and didn't deliver. Madine on the other hand is on the way up. For me Klasnic is a no.
