Wednesday continue Antonio chase

Wednesday are continuing their attempts to bring last season's loan star Michail Antonio back to Hillsborough on a a permanent basis.

The wing wizard returned to parent club Reading after helping the Owls to promotion to the Championship last term thanks to a superb loan stint in the blue and white stripes.

He's high on Owls boss Dave Jones's wanted list this summer and, despite Reading's promotion to the Premier League, Jones hasn't given up hope of bringing the jet-heeled player back to South Yorkshire.

Jones has revealed that Antonio is keen to come back to Wednesday and Owls chief executive Paul Aldridge is said to be in 'constant contact' with the Royals, who are in no rush to sell him.

Antonio's form with Wednesday last season, coupled with his expected drop down the pecking order at Reading following their promotion, could alert more teams to his services.

But Jones has said the Owls won't give up their chase until they receive a definite answer from Reading about his future.

I really hope that we can secure this guy, but there's always two things to consider. 1. If a player doesn't want to be here, we shouldn't want him here, either. I don't write that as sour grapes or as a put down to any player that doesn't want to join up with Wed., but we need players whose hearts are in it for the blue and white and really want to help bring this club back to where it belongs. It sounds like this is where Antonio is, and that's terrific! 2. No one man is a team. That said, he sure made an impact on ours, last season! I really hope that we can secure him so that he can continue his work with us. A double promotion next season would be magic! UTO!!!

Iowa, I think he has expressed desire to play for us, it's just that Reading would not accept our bids yet. If all parties agree on a deal it will be great.

It's a danger, MightyBoosh, and two years ago I'd say it was in the starts. Here's hoping that DJ & MM have a good plan in place.

Of course it is! Must be that Internet lag that held back notifying us all of the Joe Mattock signing.
