Owls in hat for Capital One Cup draw

The season may still be a while away but the first round draw for the Capital One Cup takes place on Thursday - and Wednesday will be in the hat.

The League Cup, newly named thanks to the Capital One sponsorship that replaces Carling, will actually kick-start the 2012-13 domestic season as it's played on the week before the Football League kick-off.

All Football League clubs with the exception of Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers will enter the competition at the first round stage.

The draw has been split into north and south sections for the first round and Wednesday will be seeded - meaning they can play one of 16 teams.

They are: Bury, Preston, Oldham, Scunthorpe, Chesterfield, Rochdale, Shrewsbury, Crewe, Rotherham, Port Vale, Accrington, Morecambe, Burton, Bradford, Fleetwood Town, York City.

Premier League clubs will enter at the second round stage, with those involved in European competition entering in round three.

The first round matches will take place on the weekend commencing Monday August 13.
