Maguire set for Wednesday move

Derby County striker Chris Maguire is set to complete a move to Hillsborough, according to reports.

The former Aberdeen forward has been linked with a move to the Owls for a number of weeks and two bids have already been turned down by the Rams according to reports.

Wednesday haven't given up the chase however, and BBC Radio Sheffield are saying the Scotsman will arrived at Hillsborough on a four-year deal.

Maguire signed for the Pride Park club last summer but made only eight appearances - two from the bench before being sent out on-loan to Portsmouth.

The jury's still out on this for me. Where I think it's great we're set to bring in a striker, I'm not overly enthused by his strike rate. Any opinions?

Having read a fair few match reports from vital portsmouth it looks like this could be a very good bit of business. Whilst his strike rate isnt the greatest, he was in the thick of the action, runs is a**e off and creates chances too. Sounds like a Luke Varney 2.0

I work down in Fareham, near Portsmouth and most Pompey fans here think he did a fantastic job for them for the last 6 months. Very sorry to lose him. Sounds like a good signing imo.

He has penned a 3 year deal for an undisclosed fee its on the official site good signing i think in the old paul williams mold

Dj and mm are playing master strokes here, really excited can't wait, couple if wingers and midfield to work round semedo and were laughing

Hopefully he can prove a few doubters wrong and get the goals. Not over excited about this move though to be honest time will tell i suppose not sure about the new kit either.

He has a cracking league debut in prospect, going back to Derby with a point to prove. When the fixtures came out I thought this move may have been scuppered but no, it's just added a little extra spice instead.

Exactly om, this is first bit of money dj spent, don't think he's going to have a big purse, and wouldn't want to waste on players that aren't going to give what he and we want, BELIEVE!!!!

Derby fans liked the look of him until he fell out with Nigel Clough. At 23 he could be solid signing with something to prove.

According to Yorkshire post Wednesday have invited Marlon Harewood to join us in pre-season training.
