Owls in talks with Pompey's Norris

Wednesday are understood to have held talks with Portsmouth midfielder David Norris, although Leeds United are also in the race for his signing.

Norris, 31, is one of a number of players Pompey are looking to sell following relegation to League One and financial problems, with the Yorkshire duo reported to be leading the race.

The Yorkshire Evening Post today says Leeds boss Neil Warnock is in the hunt for the former Ipswich Town man, but that he faces competition from Dave Jones and Wednesday.

Norris has been a name linked with a move to Hillsborough throughout the summer as Jones looks to bolster his promotion-winning squad for higher-division football.

He has plenty of experience, having played in the Championship with Pompey, Ipswich and Plymouth Argyle, and his next move could well be his last high profile one.

Pompey fans view him as a money grabber but I think he'd be an excellent addition to the squad.

Ps. Would love to see Luke Varney back at s6 too. Might aswell raid Portsmouth for their better players before others get in.

Most of us Pompey fans have been blaming all our players as money-seekers because we have been going down and down the spiral of financial sustainability, but the reality is that Norris is/was on an average Championship wage with Portsmouth. To add to this, David Norris has been one of the best performers this season, and has paid us back many times with goals and some good performances. If am not mistaken, he was also our top scorer this season. A true leader and captain. He will be an asset to every team, especially in the Championship.
