Bywater agrees new Wednesday deal

Bywater agrees new Wednesday deal

Goalkeeper Stephen Bywater has signed a new one-year contract to remain at Hillsborough next season.

The former Derby County stopper was a key cog in Wednesday's promotion from League One last season but his contract comes to an end this summer.

But he'll remain an Owl next season and said it was a 'no brainer' that he was going to pen a new deal at S6.

'It was a no-brainer for me, I was always going to sign as soon as I knew of the offer,' Bywater told the official SWFC website.

'This is the biggest club outside of the Premiership and that is fact.

'The last day of last season was the best atmosphere I have ever experienced in football and I was proud to play a part in our promotion.

'The challenge now is to do well in the Championship and if I didn't think that was an option, I would not be here.'

Bywater faces stiff competition for the number one shirt next term, however, following the arrival of former Liverpool and England goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.

Nicky Weaver and youngster Aaron Jameson are also set to remain on Wednesday's books next season.

Great competition for the number 1 shirt and with a solid defence taking shape to boot! Right, now for two wingers, a creative midfielder and another striker. Cheers Mr Manderic. We don't want much do we, haha. Can't wait for it to start.... UTO WTID WAWAW?
