Beevers signs new Wednesday contract

Wednesday defender Mark Beevers has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Hillsborough until 2014.

The 22-year-old Barnsley-born centre-back was out-of-contract at S6 this summer but Dave Jones has been impressed enough to give Beevers an extended stay as an Owl.

Beevers told the official SWFC website: 'This was something I always wanted to do and I'm really pleased to be staying for another two years.

'Sheffield Wednesday is my club and I will be here as long as they want me.

'I've been through the highs and lows with Wednesday and winning promotion last season was the biggest high of all.

'We are all aiming now to do well in the Championship and we're excited about the challenge ahead.'

The news follows goalkeeper Stephen Bywater's decision to pen a new deal at Hillsborough.
