Palmer joins Tranmere Rovers on loan

Wednesday midfielder Liam Palmer has joined Tranmere Rovers on-loan until January.

Rumours surrounding the player's future were circulating this afternoon and Palmer took to Twitter tonight, Monday, to confirm the deal.

He said: 'Well looks as though the cats out the bag! Thanks for all the messages. It will be good for me to hopefully get a good run of games and get some vital experience at a good level. Then look to come back a better player. A big thankyou too all the ‪#swfc‬ fans . Been nothing but brilliant to me since I broke into the first team. UTO.'

Wednesday and Tranmere are expected to confirm the deal tomorrow.

The Scottish U21 has shown promising signs since breaking into the Owls' first team but has found his chances limited. He's expected to fall further down the pecking order with Owls boss Dave Jones improving his squad for a higher division this season.

Sensible move this. I hope he gets to play 15-20 consecutive games for them (plus a few more for Scotland U21s). We couldn't give him that last season and his confidence suffered a little, but he's the right age to kick on. All the best Liam, we'll be tracking your progress.
