Owls get maiden summer run-outs

Wednesday played their first pre-season friendly matches of the summer tonight, Tuesday, at Stocksbridge Park Steels and Sheffield FC respectively.

The Owls soared to a 4-0 victory against the Steels while Sheffield FC, managed by former Blade Curtis Woodhouse, held a second Wednesday team to a 1-1 draw.

The Owls squad was pretty much split down the middle for the friendly double-header but it was the team at Stocksbridge who enjoyed most success.

New signing Chris Maguire enjoyed a good run-out with a brace of strikes, while Gary Madine and youngster Patrick Antelmi also got on the scoresheet in a comfortable victory.

Chris O'Grady grabbed the Owls' goal in the draw at Sheffield FC, who levelled late on.
