Owls sign Rodri from Barcelona B

Wednesday have confirmed the signing of striker Rodri from Barcelona B, subject to international clearance.

The 22-year-old arrives at Hillsborough on a season-long loan from the Spanish side, with some reports indicating there could be the option of a permanent move at the end of the campaign.

He told the official SWFC website: 'I am very happy to be here and I can't wait to get started.

'I was at the game on Saturday and I though the team did very well in the second half, the fans on a scale of 0-10 were definitely a 10. It was a massive crowd that came from Sheffield.

'That was an away game for the club so I can't wait to see them in a home game.

'I come here with a lot of excitement and I want to start as soon as possible.'

The striker came through the youth ranks at Sevilla before Barcelona splashed out over £1 million for his services last summer. He made 35 appearances for Barcelona B in Spain's Segunda Division last term, scoring eight goals.

Exciting times!, just to see the headline, makes you proud. I have been telling everyone in the office here, but I leave out the "B" bit!

Mate whether it Barcelona B or Barcelona, their B team would hold its own very well in our Premiership any player associated with Barcelona is going to be quality, and not only does he play for them, Barcelona say he is a quality player with a bright futire ahead of him. Just 2 mins, aint that the same team that also say Messi is an amazing player he he. Not that Im comparing the 2 lol. What I like is although hes from Barcelona he says Owls are Massive !! AMAZING !!

Great signing. Seems the days of Adam proudlock and Kim Olsen are long behind us thankfully. United have responded by putting in a bid for Andrew Sachs. I'm sure our maurice will get that one if nobody else.

Maybe i'm doing Kim olsen a disservice - check this out - hes definitely improved since he played for us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HR-oxD4385I

I'm genuinely impressed and excited by the squad DJ is putting together with backing from MM. 4 points from next 2 home matches will be a good start but need to stop giving teams a 2 goal start before we start playing though.

andymac, I've checked this out. We've apparently signed up to a new national scheme, 'The Elite Player Performance Plan'. Lee Bullen has been brought in to run our 'Development Squad', essentially a group consisting largely of U-21s. The aim, to bridge the gap between academy and first team. A number of smaller competitive leagues have been set up along similar lines to the Olympic tournament (where up to three over-age players can be selected at any one time). The fixtures are listed on the official site and the home matches are played at Middlewood Rd.

Cheers OM There is something strange when the likes of me and hopefully many others are actually wanting to go and support the second string Its been sadly missed
