Owls to face Southampton in League Cup

Wednesday will make the long midweek trip to Premier League side Southampton for the third round of the Capital One Cup.

The draw took place on Thursday night and Wednesday's tie will be a tough one against the Saints, Dave Jones's former club.

The Owls beat Premier League side Fulham in the second round at Hillsborough on Tuesday night thanks to Gary Madine's 50th-minute penalty.

Other notable ties include Manchester United hosting Newcastle United, Aston Villa visiting Manchester City and Arsenal taking on Coventry City at the Emirates.

The third round clash will take place in the week commencing September 24.

The worst draw possible - long trek in midweek , yes it's winable but a closer game would have been better.

Despite my username, this is just down the road from me. Personally, I'm happy with this draw, and reckon we can edge it. It would be nice to put one over my Saints supporting friends.

Worst possible draw for me as the wife's a Saint's fan, so whatever the result things will be a bit icy in our house. Having said that I think it's definitely winable for the massive

Likewise SeattleOWL. I'm down in Lee-on-Solent on the South Coast and looking forward to putting a few of the Saints fans I work with in their places!! Certainly a winnable game as although they've had a good run over the last 2 years they aren't off to the best start to the season. With Man U & Arsenal to come they should be playing us off the back of 4 straight defeats.....
