Ranger turns down Owls loan chance

Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has turned down the chance of a loan return to Wednesday, according to reports.

Owls boss Dave Jones wanted Ranger, who finished last season at Hillsborough aiding Wednesday's successful promotion bid, to return to S6 to bolster the Owls' attacking options in the Championship.

But the striker, who's surplus to requirements at Premier League Newcastle, is reported in the Sunday Sun to have delayed the decision for a return so much that Jones turned his attentions elsewhere.

Ranger is keen to prove himself with the Geordies and has three-and-a-half years left on a five-year contract but boss Alan Pardew wants him to move on.

Ranger turned down the chance of a permanent switch to Blackpool last season to try and fight for his place with the Magpies before eventually moving to Hillsborough on a successful loan deal.

Jones went on to sign Rodri, on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona B, and Jay Bothroyd, on-loan from QPR, before the close of the transfer window.

I went to a question and answer session with alan pardew atst james park and he said that for as long as he is manager of newcastle, nile ranger will NEVER play. He hates him and that response got a massive cheer from all the newcastle fans. No great loss in my opinion, he will never have a better chance of forging somethng resembling a career anyway else. well done nile, another FINE decision youve made there son.

I read a snippet just before the deadline where the player was taking his frustrations out on his agent. Perhaps a loan move was the best option right now but he was advised to hold out for something more. Ah well, DJ went for Bothroyd instead (Although I'd have preferred him to wait and go for Kenwyne who is now apparently available too).
