Owls close in on Everton's Barkley

Wednesday are close to agreeing a deal with Premier League side Everton to take starlet Ross Barkley on loan to Hillsborough.

Toffees boss David Moyes is keen for the 18-year-old to leave Goodison Park on a temporary basis to get more match action and the Owls have long been linked with his services.

Everton were keen to get the transfer window out of the way before letting the youngster leave but Wednesday are now to close to signing the midfielder in the loan window.

The move would be a big coup for the Owls, with Barkley tipped for big things at Goodison Park.

The youngster has featured just once for Everton this season, as a substitute in the Toffees' Capital One Cup win over Leyton Orient.
